In the last article of our Blog, we talked about a Spring Summer “on the go”: not necessarily to distant lands, but by making many of those events that follow one another in everyday life our own again.
The most transversal and flexible garment of the season, in this sense, can only be the trousers: quick-change par excellence, trousers will be the companion of our days.
For the spring summer, we will be spoiled for choice: from the classic tailored cut, to the skinny trousers; from the one that wraps the leg and widens at the knee; to arrive at the timeless palazzo trousers.
And it is precisely this last model that we have chosen as a passepartout to be combined with sweaters, tunics and cardigans for the Ca’Vagan SS2021 collection.
Curiosities
The palazzo trousers, as we know them today, are nothing more than the evolution of the very first models of trousers that appeared during the 1930s, in the wardrobe of the most fashionable women, who began to wear them in their free time or at the beach.
It was the famous beach pyjamas, that is, the set of jacket and wide fluid trousers worn by the ladies in the most fashionable seaside resorts, from Deauville to the Côte d’Azur.
The “conquest” of trousers, for women, was long and complex. Yet the palazzo trousers, or rather its ancestor, the palazzo pyjama, seemed to be the right compromise between elegance, comfort, practicality, emancipation and the past sense of modesty.
In the early 1960s, thanks to Irene Galitzine and Emilio Pucci, the palazzo pyjama became the protagonist once again. It was no longer just a garment for the free time, on the contrary it became elegant, sometimes precious, so much so that it also started to appear in evening outfits.
Perhaps it is precisely its evolution, its versatility and the countless solutions in which it has been proposed over the years, which make it a fundamental item of our wardrobe up to today.
When to wear them?
The palazzo trousers are a garment that will come to our aid at any time of the day: from morning to evening; from the most elegant occasions, to the looks with a more sporty flavour. A versatile and comfortable evergreen that should not be missing in every woman’s wardrobe.
In fact, the palazzo trousers suit to all silhouettes, to curvy bodies as much as to the most slender ones, since they slim the figure.
Depending on the combinations, they are ideal for any occasion and are therefore among the most loved and purchased items by women of all ages.
How to wear them?
The palazzo trousers can be worn in the office, combined with a tunic or a soft sweater, perhaps in a precious material. Or they may be combined with a blazer, completing the look with a super flat shoe, or a laced men’s shoe.
We may wear the palazzo trousers in our free time, combining them with a white t-shirt, or with a colorful sweatshirt, together with the inevitable trendy sneakers.
Finally, for the most elegant occasions, or for the evening, we can dare with precious knitted tunics, focusing on feminine necklines and draperies.
If our palazzo trousers are high-waisted, we can dare by combining them with a crop-top and a lightweight jacket or cardigan. We can then complete the look with high-heeled sandals or jeweled slippers.
The palazzo trousers seen by Ca’Vagan
Being one of the most versatile garments in the wardrobe, the palazzo trousers accompany the looks of Ca’Vagan collection from spring to mid-summer.
It does so in neutral nuances, such as beige, cream, or pearl, which go well with sweaters in the colors of flowers, earth and sea. Or in its most precious version, the tricot trousers with silver reflections.

Or again, playing with colors, in a fluid fabric with watercolor paint. It does this by running through the materials: from wavy-looking cottons, to viscose and flowing falling silks.
